The Texas Education Agency uses an accountability system that assigns letter grades to schools and districts. The grades are based on a system that uses various indicators to provide greater detail on the performance of a district and each individual campus. The grade given is based on the following criteria:
• Student Achievement - STAAR performance; College, Career, and Military Readiness; Graduation Rate
• School Progress - Academic growth and relative performance to similar districts and campuses
• Closing the gaps - student performance taken as a group and based on various affecting factors (economically disadvantage, special education, English learners, and others)
