Important Information about At-Home
and In-School Learning

There has been quite a bit of confusion about transitioning between At-Home and In-School Learning. We would like the learning environments for children to stay as constant as possible to create stability, clarity and to avoid disruptions to the learning process. Please read over the following guidelines to help in understanding how the process works.

• It is very important that students do not move freely between At-Home and In-School learning. Students and parents cannot pick and choose at-home learning, at their convenience. If a student is an In-School learner and is absent from school, the student can access online live teaching and can complete assignments (if they are available). But teachers are not required to load assignments for these students and the students will be counted as absent. Students would only be accessing the live instruction for their personal educational benefit, and to prevent missing a lecture.

• Parent Requests a Change in Placement: Parents who would like to make a change to their child’s learning environment (At-Home to In-School or vice-versa) MUST contact school administration and this change MUST be approved by school administration. Once an environment has been decided that environment should be maintained for the six weeks.

• Temporary Changes: When In-school learners are put on quarantine or isolation status due to possible COVID reasons, the child will be moved to at-home learning temporarily. This change will be made by the school administration, who will be in contact with the parent and inform the teachers of the change. Parents will be expected to have the child back at school after the quarantine/isolation time period has ended. Parents will be notified by the nurse in regards to dates of when to return to campus. If a parent does not have the child back, and parents would like to continue at-home learning, then the parents MUST have that approved through administration. A parent opting for at-home learning would need to keep that choice to the end of that six weeks period

Ha habido bastante confusión sobre la transición entre el aprendizaje en casa y en la escuela. Nos gustaría que los entornos de aprendizaje para los niños se mantuvieran lo más constantes posible para crear estabilidad, claridad y evitar interrupciones en el proceso de aprendizaje. Lea las siguientes guías para comprender cómo funciona el proceso.

• Es muy importante que los estudiantes no se muevan libremente entre el aprendizaje en casa y en la escuela. Los estudiantes y los padres no pueden escoger y elegir el aprendizaje en casa, según su conveniencia. Si un estudiante es un estudiante en la escuela y está ausente de la escuela, el estudiante puede acceder a la enseñanza en vivo en línea y puede completar las tareas (si están disponibles). Pero los maestros no están obligados a cargar tareas para estos estudiantes y los estudiantes se contarán como ausentes. Los estudiantes solo tendrían acceso a la instrucción en vivo para su beneficio educativo personal y para evitar perderse una lectura.

• Padres solicitan el cambio de ubicación: los padres que deseen cambiar el entorno de aprendizaje de sus hijos (en casa a en la escuela o viceversa) DEBEN comunicarse con la administración de la escuela y este cambio DEBE ser aprobado por la administración de la escuela. Una vez que se ha decidido un entorno, este debe mantenerse durante las seis semanas.

• Cambios temporales: cuando estudiantes en la escuela se ponen en cuarentena o estado de aislamiento debido a posibles razones de COVID, estos serán trasladado al aprendizaje en casa temporalmente. Este cambio lo hará la administración de la escuela, quien se pondrá en contacto con los padres e informará a los maestros del cambio. Se espera que los padres devuelvan al niño a la escuela después de que se haya cumplido el período de cuarentena / aislamiento. La enfermera notificará a los padres sobre las fechas de regreso al campus. Si el padre no tiene al niño de regreso y los padres desean continuar con el aprendizaje en casa, entonces los padres DEBEN obtener la aprobación de la administración. Un padre que opte por el aprendizaje en el hogar debería continuar hasta el final de ese período de seis semanas.
