A note from our superintendent, Dr. Reese:
This week, the Governor issued Executive Order GA-34 lifting the mask mandate in Texas and increasing capacity for all businesses and facilities in the state to 100 percent, starting next Wednesday, March 10, while giving local control for businesses to establish or maintain their own safety protocols. This information is still very new and could have significant implications on many levels.
It is important to note that school districts have health and safety protocols governed through TEA and the Commissioner of Education. The guidelines from TEA specifies that masks should still be worn by staff and students within the schools, and all other safety protocols remain in place. While I would love nothing more than to get back to normal as soon as possible, I continue to be concerned about our staff members' health and ability to teach as well as the health and wellness of our students. Our teachers and staff were just added to the vaccination eligibility list yesterday, however receiving the vaccinations is still not an automatic process. Because safety for our staff and students is always our top priority, I want you to know that our safety protocols remain unchanged, for now. Masks are still required for all staff, students, and visitors to our facilities. Our hard work during this year has resulted in not having to close due to the COVID-19 pandemic and also being able to keep our extracurricular programs competing and representing MISD proudly. I don't want to endanger any of the activities we are currently working to provide our students during the remainder of the school year such as prom, our senior trip, graduations, and other events.
I believe the commitment to our safety protocols and attention to detail by our staff has kept us as safe as possible and allowed us to keep providing opportunities for kids. For now, continue to follow our safety protocols. I will let you know if things change.
Stay healthy!
¡Mantenganse sanos!
As we continue with our extracurricular activities, please make sure to be aware of all of the mandated guidelines sent to us by TEA and the CDC. Please help us provide a safe and healthy environment for all students and staff members of Mumford ISD.
Thank you!
Parents,
With flu season upon us and the holidays near, it is more important than ever to maintain awareness of your child's health. We want to do everything we can to keep your child safe and our school a healthy environment.
Please be sure you are screening your child for signs and symptoms of COVID 19, before sending them to school. Continue to do your part in communicating with the school nurse any of these symptoms.
Please understand, per TEA and CDC guidelines students that exhibit signs and symptoms will be placed on a 10 day isolation period before being allowed to return to school.
The only exceptions are if you:
A. obtain a Dr's note clearing the individual for return with an alternative diagnosis
OR
B. have documentation of a negative COVID 19 test result.
All absences are being monitored, so please contact the school when your child is absent. If your child is absent due to an illness, the school nurse can help you know when your child can return safely.
We appreciate your help and support to keep all our students healthy.
Our weekly school bulletin giving you important information of events and activities throughout our school.
The Home Connect system gives parents access to their child's reading progress.
